The symposium on Social & Affective Neuroscience was held in Beijing on June 7-8, 2012, which was also served as the satellite meeting of 2012 Annual Meeting of Human Brain Mapping. This event was organized and sponsored by School of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at Beijing Normal University and the Chinese Chapter of Society for Social Neuroscience. The themes of the symposium focused on emotion, culture, morality and all the interdisciplinary aspects related to social neuroscience.

The symposium was a tremendous success with more than 160 participants in attendance, representing international universities, research institutes and organizations, from German, Japan, Netherland, United States, Hong Kong, and China. The overarching objective of the symposium was to accelerate the worldwide progress in the area of Social & Affective Neuroscience in China through intensive and close collaborations between Chinese and Western scientists. The symposium fostered exchange at multiple levels, and provided a neutral platform and unique opportunities for active discussions on scientific issues, collaborative research, and joint training programs.
